The Church

Church Building

The sanctuary sits apart from the hall. On the east side of the church is a paved, demarcated parking lot accommodating up to 70 vehicles. The west side is additional graveled parking. This portion of the property is an undeveloped asset with rich potential. Nanaimo is often referred to as the “Hub City” as main transportation routes to the rest of the Island radiate from here. St Andrew’s Church property is a 2 acre parcel of land, with a city street on 3 of the 4 sides. A large apartment complex separates the church property from a shopping mall adjacent to the Island Highway. It is geographically situated centrally within the City of Nanaimo.

The narthex, with its tall windows, greets us as with open arms. The many windows welcome God’s world in. We are proud of the serene, airy sanctuary, appointed with stained glass, and seating for 250 worshippers. In addition to our organ, we are blessed with a magnificent grand piano, in a sanctuary that is acoustically nearly perfect. There is a room in which the choir assembles, a large well appointed nursery and a Sunday School area within the church building.

The Hall

Church Hall

A significant renovation of our hall was completed in 2006. Natural wood finishing and muted colors make this a very comfortable meeting place. We have a banquet capacity of 120. The kitchen has multiple appliances and commercial grade dishwashing equipment, making it a pleasure to prepare and serve communal meals.

Both the upper and lower floors of the hall have washrooms. The church offices, a board room, a lounge with comfortable living room furniture, and a storage area are currently located on the lower level. This area is alarmed separately and can be accessed from within the hall or through its own entrance.
